Spotlight Race: King George

Kauto Star Bounced back to his best at Haydock last time out – jumping flawlessly and trouncing Long Run by 8 lengths. Although today is a different story as Long Run will be more fit and will have come on for that run.  You have to have got the impression that Kauto was geared up completely for that run – whilst Long Run was being slowly brought through with this race and obviously the Gold Cup in March on the agenda. So this all points to Long Run bolting up again, but that may not be the way.
Paul Nicholl’s may just get his star bang on again for this and if he could reproduce that form – and if Long Run raises his game from the betfair chase we will be in for one hell of a race. This is the battle before the war – but this encounter will tell us an awful lot of who our Gold Cup winner will be come May.
Everytime I try to decide who I will bet on I land at the same answer – Long Run.  He was so emphatic in the Gold Cup and more importantly the King George last year that if he is at full health, even an on form Kauto Star at 11 years old just will not match him.
I do not believe that Master Minded will stay the 3 miles, he will travel brilliantly until the last 2 or 3 furlongs but inevitably will end up in a battle for 3rd with Captain Chris and could even be vulnerable their. Somersby is an interesting each way alternative and could make up for his disappointing run last time where things just did not work out but stayed on well at the death to suggest this trip will suit.

Race By Race Selections

Nap Of The Day

The 14.20 Handicap Hurdle at Wetherby is going to be a tough race and many in this race are winners in the making but I just feel the Brian Ellison runner Simonside will have the measure of them all.
He was so close last week when just being touched off and the fact that he is being dished out again over this more suitable distance so soon means another big run is expected. The ground is obviously no concern and should go one better today.
Another Positive is that Brian Ellison is a man on form and the horse will be bang on for this. A
vailable at a nice 3/1 with Paddy Power for the exciting Danny Cook...

Next Best Bet Of The Day:

The 13.45 Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby is going to be a tough race and Always Right will have his followers for the inform James Revely ,but a horse who is on great form is Knockara Beau
He travelled supremely well the last time out but just seemed to lose his way in the race before running on brilliantly again up the Cheltenham hill to grab second behind Shakalakaboomboom in a superior contest to today.
Available at a nice 5/1 with Paddy Power for the likeable George Charlton and Jan Faltesaik.

Another Best Bet Of The Day:
The 13.50 Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown is going to be a tough race and Harolds Cross will have his followers for previous form but a horse who will finally return to hurdles is  Sughera.
He just hasn't popped over fences and on old form should be involved here over the smaller obstacles. If his confidence is not damaged he will be involved in this come the end.
Available at a nice 6/1 with Paddy Power for the likeable Davy Russell.

Each Way Selection ohe weights and it will take f the day:
The 14.55 Handicap Chase at Leopardstown is a nice open looking race but I like the each way chances of Mirador Del Conde.
His stable are firing in the winners and this horse has won off 11 5 and todays goes off a featherweight of 9 11. He has lost his way somewhat but if he gets his head together he could run a massive race.
Up and Coming jockey Pat Enright takes the ride and odds of 10/1 are luring for the brilliant Robert Tyner.
