Punchestown Day 2

Day one went well - with Alderwood proving to be a good Nap when slamming strong favourite Trifolium - and hopefully more of the same today.

 Nap Of The Day

Rubi Light jumps like a stag and loves the ground

The 17.30 Gold Cup at Punchestown is a lively looking contest ,but a horse who may just get ideal conditions today is the likeable Rubi Light .

The horse has simply been brilliant for connections in 2011/2012 - winning twice and finishing second behind Gold Cup winning Synchronsied - whilst he was all at sea with the dry conditions at Cheltenham, todays heavy ground will suit him. He is joint top rated here and with no weight concessions its hard to see him not being involved.

Andrew Lynch takes the ride which is only a positive - as in my eyes he has been Ireland's best jockey this year! Follow The Plan also has to be taken at that price.

Odds of 3/1 Seem nice

Next Best Bet Of The Day:

If anyone will get Foildubh home (white arms) Carberry will!

Foildubh in the 18.40 Handicap chase at Punchestown has been a rapid improver and may finally have the perfect jockey in Paul Carberry - to deliver him late off what should be a decent pace. .

He is a horse who can be frustrating - but seemed to put it all together late on when a good second in his first handicap against todays rival Bob Lingo and with a nice pull in the weights with him today he could pounce late to grab the deteriorating Tranquil Sea..

As I said Paul Carberry is tailored made for this horse - he will definitely be patient enough to wait late  on, just as the horse wants!

Odds of 4/1 are generous

Each Way Bet Of The Day:

Bridgets Pet could swoop late today too

The 16.55 Novice hurdle at Punchestown is a nice looking contest with a few talented sorts, but a horse who has been eased into this and may finally get his ideal trip  is Bridgets Pet .

He has been very good all year and was just touched off when finishing like a train last time out and with his previous win being of a similar late finishing nature it seems only natural that massive improvement could come over todays distance in this winnable race.

Anthony Mullins will definitely have this horse in the mood for this and has booked a decent jockey in Emmet Mullins for the job.

7/1 should be taken
