Irish Tips

Big Race of the day

Hennessy Gold Cup

First Lietenant can win here
Not exactly an epic renewal of this great old race - but still there is an immense strength in depth here - but I just feel a few of these do shine more than others.

Bobs Worth is a great horse and really is a horse who will kick on to higher level than this eventually - but this is a big race to return to and he could just be too classy a sort and get "stuck in the mud".

A horse who this will not be a problem for is First Lieutenant - who is also a classy sort but is also a horse who will enjoy the ground and on form is quite strong. He was not all that far behind Bobs Worth at Cheltenham and also beat reigning Champion Hurdle hero Rock on ruby at the festival some 2 years ago.

My each way option is Saint Are at more likely odds. If this does turn out to be the slog we expect a light weight is a bonus - he is only on a mark of 145 and will enjoy the distance - he literally will stay all day and enjoys a bit of a dead ground - with the Tim Vaughan stable going well he is not one to dismiss!

Saint Are 14/1 1pts E/W

Nap Of The Day

Grand National winning Liam Treadwell should collect again
The  12.25 Beginners Chase at Towcester is a trappy looking handicap, but a horse who may just have improvement in him and is hailing from capable quarters is Baileys Concerto.

From day one he was kept for fences - he he was in the process of running a blinder and getting involved on his debut when he was wrong footed at one fence and came asunder when going as well as any. Venetia Williams has waited for this decent prize and a big run is likely

Liam Treadwell takes the ride - he is a jockey who I've always held in high esteem and it is finally coming together for him this year
- he has a tremeendous strike rate this year and has been doing very well for Venetia Williams - so well he has taken Sam Thomas position as number 2 for the stable.

Opening price should be taken.

Next Best Bet Of The Day:

John Kiely can collect
The 13.20 Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse is a nice looking Handicap, but a horse who may just strike again and is on a nice mark is On The Way Out.

He is a frustrating sort - who has bags of ability - but seems to be have a few "off days". He was too bad to be true last time out and on form has many of these under wraps. On a positive note he will stay easily, loves the ground and is classy on his day - so if he finally shows his potential he will be bang there.

The extremely underrated Tom Doyle comes to Fairyhouse for this ride alone, and the fact that John Kiely and Tom Doyle are not usually associated with one another is also fascinating.

7/1
is fascinating.

Each Way Bet Of The Day:

By The hour could shock here
By The Hour in the 15.00 Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse seems to have been planted here by the ever crafty Robert Tyner and hoping Bog Warrior is not fully there - this nice sort could pick up the pieces.

His trainer is known for doing well with a small stable - this sort is rated 19lbs higher over fences and if he can translate form he really should be bang there.
Bog Warrior is a talented sort but has flopped in the past and witha  lack of a recent run I'm just hoping he is not fully there and that he can collect off a featherweight

Adrian Heskin is another positive and this promising jockey will give you your moneys worth
Odds of 8/1  are generous
